Humanising prison life and supporting people in rebuilding their lives after prison, particularly those facing social exclusion, while recognising everyone’s capacity to change, grow and reconcile, and providing the support and opportunities needed for social inclusion. In doing so, the community contributes to building a safer, fairer and more cohesive society.
The non-profit association was established in 2004, following discussions among members of the Catholic Church’s prison pastoral service. They recognised the need for a civil organisation to manage social support projects for people serving their prison sentences, extending its work beyond religious care.
The facility provides ten residential places where, after completing their sentence, residents are supported in making the transition to independent life in the community.
A non-residential service providing psychological support, social and employment guidance, and a safe space where individuals can receive help as they rebuild their lives in the community.
Four residential places are available, where people can stay during their temporary periods of authorised leave, with support from the organisation’s professional team.
YGB passes donated clothing, bedlinen and other household items in good condition for the use in the accommodation, and does a monthly shopping of basic supplies with the means collected by the various fundraising initiatives.
